BACKGROUND

TO KDCJE

Kilimanjaro Dairy Cooperative Joint Enterprise Ltd ( JE) is a new institution that was registered in July, 2017 under cooperative Laws Act No. 6 of 2013, by Fourteen (14) primary dairy cooperatives that are involved in milk production as their major business in Hai District – Kilimanjaro region. These dairy cooperatives agreed together to form and implement a joint enterprise as an Umbrella body for the Dairy cooperatives in Kilimanjaro Region. These initial dairy cooperatives that formed the JE include; Chawamando, Nkuu - Maziwa, Uduru, Kalali women dairy cooperative, Kwarungo, Foo, Nronga women cooperative, Mamba, Sawe, Kyeri, Nguni women dairy  cooperative , Marukeni women dairy cooperative, Nure. Later on, more cooperatives have been invited to join the Joint Enterprise and the motive is to eventually increase outreach to the whole region of Kilimanjaro.

OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the Joint Enterprise is to increase production base, efficiency and competitiveness and sustainability of the dairy sector in Kilimanjaro region through implementing joint activities that enhances economic and social benefits. Read more

 

OUR AREAS OF FOCUS

Lobbying and advocacy

Especially on dairy farming policies;

 

Better animal husbandry

 

Cooperative compliance, governance

 

Taxation, gender and youth participation in dairy.

 

Dairy technical services

Dairy production and productivity for example feeds, fodder, Artificial Insemination (AI), Vaccine.

Marketing and market linkage

Link dairy cooperatives with dairy milk markets and processed milk products.

Joint procurement of dairy inputs for example feeds, fodder, mineral supplement.

Link youth groups (SPE’s) with proper markets for fodder production, AI with dairy cooperatives.

“Dairy Cooperatives for Sustainable Economic Growth”

 A beneficiary trained on proper feeding practices to increase yield of milk per cow per day. He has increased from 15-20 liters per day due to proper feeding technics.

One of our farmers in Kyeri cooperative trained on quality milk control and    hygiene that starts right during milking process, trained on improved cow bara design for comfortable cow husbandry and also trained on animal production using Artificial Insemination (AI).

About Us

The aim of forming the KDCJE was/is to pull the cooperatives efforts and resources in Northern and Eastern Tanzania together that will help them to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the dairy products production and distribution within and outside the region.
